Natura Rota
A principios del año 2017 y a través de un proyecto en el que estaba trabajando, tuve la oportunidad de conocer a un grupo de mujeres que sobrevivieron a la violencia de género. A este efecto concurrí durante tres días a refugios en el conurbano bonaerense, a escuchar relatos de víctimas. De las entrevistas que llevé a cabo, en las que escuché en primera persona detalles inenarrables, uno más atroz que otro, todas experiencias tortuosas, en la actualidad ninguno de los ex esposos/parejas está preso. Los procesos judiciales no avanzan; ni uno solo de los responsables enfrenta hoy una condena
Por obra de la impunidad, las mujeres víctimas sí tienen su condena. Deben cargar con sus tragedias personales en la oscuridad del olvido y el anonimato.
Este proyecto nace como consecuencia del horror de sus palabras, y de la necesidad de hacer algo desde mi lugar para recordar(me) el padecimiento de tantas mujeres.
Natura Rota es una serie de fotografías que se desprenden de esos relatos de cuerpos fragmentados, pero sobretodo de la soledad, la fortaleza y, en algunos casos, de los esfuerzos por lograr una auto-superación. Mujeres sobrevivientes que pudieron enfrentar el miedo a buscarse a sí mismas y desde allí, intentar reconstruirse.
Broken Natura
In early 2017 and through a project I was working on, I had the opportunity of meeting a group of women who had survived gender violence.. For this purpose I visited during three days victims´ shelters in the outskirts of Buenos Aires, to listen to their stories.. Out of the interviews I carried out, in which I had first-hand accounts with atrocious details, all of them harrowing experiences, none of the responsible husbands or partners is in jail.. Criminal proceedings are at a standstill; not a single culprit is at present facing a court sentence.
On the other hand, as a consequence of impunity, women victims do have their sentences. They must bear their personal tragedies mired in the darkness of oblivion and anonymity.
This project originated in the horror of their testimonies and in the need to do something within my means to remind myself, and to draw attention to, the suffering of so many women.
Natura Rota consists of a series of photographs produced by those stories of dilapidated bodies, and above all by their isolation, by their endurance, and in some cases, by their efforts attempting to rise to a higher level. Women survivors who were able to confront the fear of soul-searching and from there, to aim at their self-reconstruction.
